SOOT. LOVES SERIES | Elle Musa

It is no secret that we absolutely love artist, singer and songwriter Elle Musa AKA Elle-Louise Burguez. This inspiring lady is the creative behind the hand painted motifs seen in the Elle print from our Beach Daze collection. We spoke to Elle about what she is passionate about, her beach essentials and her process when creating the Elle print.

Describe your process when creating the Elle print?

I was living in Lisbon at the time and it was raining a lot!

There was a beautiful view of the old city and I was sitting in front of a heater drawing and painting all day on coloured paper.

I was very inspired by ancient Persian art and days at the beach at Cascais.

What are you passionate about lately?

I am always passionate about what I create and at the moment my passion is focused on my art show coming up.

I am also very passionate about (but not perfect at)- going within and becoming more self aware so that I can have the best and most loving relationships possible.

What are your sources of inspiration?

Anything beautiful or aesthetically pleasing that I come across in life.

When I am seeking inspiration it is always through ancient art or architecture and design.

What are you reading or listening to currently?

I am reading all of the wonderful books by Elena Ferante.

And listening to the Louis Theroux Podcast whilst I paint.

Favourite colour?

It's usually some kind of pinky colour.

What is a regular day for you?

Most of my days are different depending on what I am working on.

It usually involves some kind of workout, painting or making music and eating good food.

What are your guilty pleasures?

Binging 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' or some kind of series, Boulder Canyon avocado oil chips.. I eat a lot of chocolate too.

What do you have in store for the rest of the year?

Currently I am working on my first solo art show that will be in Byron Bay on the 11th of June.

This year I will be continuing to write and record music.

And I hope to go on some kind of holiday in Australia or to NZ at some point to write music and make a music video.

Girl crush?

I have hundreds lol. At the moment it would be Adwoah Aboah!

Artists that inspire you?

So many as well.. always the greats like Picasso, Matisse, Cocteau, Gaugin. But mainly unheard of artists from ancient times or outsider artists.

How did you get to where you are today?

Since I have left school I have been pursuing a creative career in music and art.

I guess I just haven't stopped creating and putting myself out there for 12 years.

Favourite motif in the Elle print?

Oooo it's hard to decide.. maybe the black jug and strawberry.

What are your beach essentials?

Sunscreen, sunshirt, hat, sunglasses and a good book!

What is your biggest career highlight to date?

My biggest highlights are the magazine features and radio interviews I have done, the collaborations with beautiful brands like SOOT!

And I guess just knowing my music is being listened to all over the world, my art is in beautiful galleries and peoples homes and hopefully making people happy.

My art show will definitely take the cake too !

Out of all the beautiful artworks you have created, which one is your favourite?

'Elaleh's Rugs and Other Things' :)

Elle has her first solo show titled 'Lali Pali' on 11th June 6-8pm at Joints Byron Bay
